A century ago there was absolutely no issue with almost everyone owning a car, heck we ended up with a family owning several cars, why can't it be the same for running your own web infrastructure?

fast forward to 2021 and "owning your infrastructure" or at least running your own web service needs based on open source is portrayed as chimerical almost crazy path that - everybody - will refuse to enter.

I'm not saying everyone should own their own server but we won't get out of the platform mad-house palace by continuing the same approach that led to the Web we have today.

"Removing your own code from [GitHub] is a violation of their Terms of Service? WTF? This is a kidnapping.
